SGS launches CENCAST

The University of Nueva Caceres School of Graduate Studies (SGS) launched the Center for Nueva Caceres Studies (CENCAST) on Feb. 14, 2019, 1:00 PM at AMS 201. This supports one of the University Research and Creative Work Agenda- the development of cultural identity and values of Nueva Caceres as a social group towards national pride and global citizenship. The University President, Dr. Fay Lea Patria M. Lauraya, delivered the inspiring opening message. She redefined the focus of the University Research Center and led the charge in this direction. Dr. Danilo M. Gerona, a world-renowned historian, international lecturer and gifted artist, a prominent philosopher, author and professor at UNC School of Graduate Studies, gave an engaging talk.

During this academic milestone, President Lauraya joined by the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Nora Elizabeth F. Maniquiz and the Dean of School of Graduate Studies and the Officer-in-Charge of University Research Center, Dr. Romeo M. Sumayo Jr., symbolically unveiled the CENCAST emblem.

The program also showcased Bicol-related studies to promote Bicolano’s beautiful heritage. Researchers from the University of Nueva Caceres, School of Graduate Studies – Ms. Sherry Combis, Mr. Mark Paderan and Mr. Jenmel Dayupay presented their papers. In her closing remarks, VPAA, Dr. Nora Elizabeth F. Maniquiz gave the guests some words of wisdom to contemplate on.

After the launching program, a snack buffet featuring a gorgeous selection of food prepared by Chef Billy Genterola delighted the guests. UNC School heads, faculty and students attended the event. A special shout-out to UNC’s Research Officers, Ms. Joy Gaza and Ms. Kristine Idda Del Rosario for making this event a resounding success. To the School of Graduate Studies family, led by Dr. Sumayo., congratulations on an incredible job.

The Ayala Education, headed by Derrick Latreille, its Chief Learning Officer, is conducting transformation training workshops for Deans, Assistant deans and selected faculty members of the University of Nueva Caceres. The series of workshops started last July 2016 and is expected to finish by January 2017.
