Regional Training – Workshop on Research Refereeing Using ISI and Scopus Standard

The University of Nueva Caceres, School of Graduate Studies (SGS) hosted the Regional Training – Workshop on Research Refereeing using ISI and Scopus Standard on May 31, 2019, 8AM – 5PM at The Board Room, Avenue Plaza Hotel, Magsaysay Avenue, Naga City. Over 70 participants from 16 colleges and universities converged. This event was spearheaded by the Consortium of Non-Sectarian Colleges and Universities for Research (CONCUR), in partnership with the Global Leaders Society (GLS). CONCUR members are University of Nueva Caceres, Naga College Foundation, University of Saint Anthony, Bicol College and Mabini Colleges. The President of the University of Nueva Caceres, Dr. Fay Lea Patria M. Lauraya gave the welcome address. The Director of Commission on Higher Education Region 5 and Adviser of CONCUR, Dr. Freddie T. Bernal gave the keynote speech.

The resource person of the Regional Training – Workshop was Dr. Genaro Vivador Japos, a seasoned research writer, an educator by heart and lifelong learner. Dr. Japos is the President of the Philippine Association of Institutions for Research (PAIR) and Social Science Specialist of International Association Multidisciplinary Research. He holds 5 doctorate degrees in the fields of philosophy, education and management. He finished his undergraduate degree as magna cum laude. He was a former Human Resource Development Officer, Planning Officer, accreditation officer, Dean of College of Arts and Sciences, Dean of Collge of Education, and Vice President for Research and Planning. Currently, Dr. Japos is a visiting professor in ten universities in the country, including the University of Nueva Caceres. He is also a Peer Reviewer of various national and international refereed journals and one of the country’s most sought-after lecturer in research. After the lecture and drills, selected participants imparted insights on the event and shared their learning experiences. UNC Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Nora Elizabeth F. Maniquiz gave the closing message. The activity ended with the distribution of certificates to participants and awarding of GLS institutional membership plaques to CONCUR partners.
