SGS Programs: Level III Re-Accredited

In efforts to reassure students and stakeholders of utmost commitment to provide unparalleled academic experience and services, UNC School of Graduate Studies submitted its programs to the process of accreditation under the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). Yet again such endeavors are a success as the institution’s Master in Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Arts in Education (MAED) programs were granted Level III Re-accredited status and its Doctor of Philosophy major in Behavioural Management program a Candidate Status by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) last April 27, 2017. UNC SGS

was entitled such statuses for having satisfactorily met the standards and fulfilled all the requirements of the PACUCOA upon its visit last January 12-14, 2017. PACUCOA also recognized UNC School of Graduate Studies as the first university to have Level III Master of Arts in Education and Master in Business Administration accredited programs in the Bicol region. The awards were given to the university last December 1, 2017 during the 44th founding year and 28th Annual General Assembly of PACUCOA. Dean Romeo M. Sumayo is indeed grateful to PACUCOA and to those who were instrumental for the unit to have reached such feat.

The Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) is authorized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to certify the quality levels of accredited programs of educational institutions for the purpose of granting progressive deregulation and other benefits. Furthermore, PACUCOA is a private accrediting agency that gives formal recognition to academic organizations by certifying that their programs are able to maintain excellent standards in operations, in the context of their individual aims and objectives. They acknowledge institutions of learning which competence and performance outstandingly satisfy set standards and deserve professional recognition. The positive results of the accreditation prove that UNC-SGS is continuously successful in the conduct of its educational activities, in whole or in part, and confirms that it substantially performs according to its objectives, and is generally at par with competitive institutions.

The PHD in Behavioral Management, MBA and MAED programs deliver reasonably high standard of instruction through extensive learning resource facilities. They have highly visible community outreach program and research tradition. Results also show that the institution implements a strong faculty and skill development tradition and establishes a working network with prestigious local and international organizations. On behalf of Dean Romy Sumayo Jr, we thank all the staff and faculty, the students, the entire SGS family and Dr. Emelita O. Menes for all your hardwork and commitment to make this happen. This 2018, UNC SGS desires to submit its programs to Level IV accreditation. This noble intent will once again bring opportunities to explore best practices geared towards maximum scholastic effectiveness.
